Transport Advisor

We have an immediate requirement for an experienced Transport Advisor to fill a fly in, fly out roster cycle in Papua New Guinea.

The successful candidate will have experience within a fleet ground transportation organisation with extensive fleet dispatching experience (ie mid size to large taxi fleet).

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Managing the Client ground transportation organisation including Drivers, Dispatchers, vehicle acquisition, maintenance and deployment in Papua New Guinea.
  • Overseeing contractors.
  • Mentoring national staff to assume ever increasing responsibilities and ultimately the management of all transport functions.
  • Effectively managing the Client Ground Transportation services to include documented protocols and procedures.
  • Giving special consideration to local criteria such as safety, security, climate, transportation infrastructure and Client office and housing locations.
  • Ensuring all contract staff and organisations meet the terms of their contracts with the Client.
  • Planning future Driver and vehicle requirements, selection, acquisition, training, operation and maintenance of the transport function.
  • Preparing budgets and work programs for the Transportation Organisation to ensure appropriate transportation systems are in place for the future.
  • Developing processes, protocols and procedures for the safe, effective and efficient management of the Client transportation services.
  • Establishing safety objectives for the Transportation Organisation, developing safety programs and stewarding progress toward these objectives.
  • Mentoring and developing the transport organisations Citizen staff with a focus on career progression, training and education.
  • Monitoring and evaluating contractor performance in the delivery of the ground transportation service against KPIs.

    It is expected that applicants will possess the following:

  • Security, safety and risk experience with a multinational organisation in a developing nation.
  • Experience in supervisory and leadership roles.
  • Experience in managing and supervising vehicle fleets.
  • Previous instruction experience.
  • Strong knowledge of radio usage and language.
  • Strong knowledge of logistics.
  • Ability to work under time line restraints.
  • Good level of inter-personal communication skills.
  • Ability to readily prioritise work tasks.
  • Strong mentoring skills.
  • Good instructional techniques.
  • High level of attention to detail.
  • Strong level of written communication skills.
  • Computer literacy.
